The Mazda MX-5 Miata is obviously the brand’s most important and most popular vehicle, so it makes sense that the all-new 2016 model has been dominating the news lately. However, the company has been very tightlipped about the details of this new vehicle, but now that the car is on display at the Paris Motor Show, the ban on information has finally been lifted.
We now know that, here in America, the new MX-5 will feature a 2.0-liter Skyactiv engine, as opposed to a 1.5-liter version in other parts of the world. Jalopnik went so far as to hazard some guesses about the new car’s output: “While Mazda has chosen to not reveal power specifications at this time, it seems right that we can assume the new Miata will have at least 155 horsepower and 150 pound-feet of torque. If it stays at that power level, that’s a decrease of 12 horsepower and an increase of 10 pound-feet of torque. The new car also weighs far less than the old car, so the power deficit won’t matter.”
Here at Lancaster Mazda, we promise to keep you updated on all the news about the MX-5 and the rest of the Mazda lineup. And if you need a new car, of course, just come see us today.
