As the leaves are beginning to change and the air gets cool and crisp, we all start to think of our favorite autumn activities: eating pumpkin-flavored everything, watching football, leaf peeping, and more. But, in the midst of all that fun, don’t forget to take a few minutes to take care of your car.
Here are a few basic fall car maintenance tips to keep you on the road.
- Change your wipers. Fall always brings more rain. Be sure you’re prepared with a new set of windshield wipers. These should be changed every year in the autumn. If your blades are leaving streaks, it’s time to get a new set.
- Check your lights. With fewer hours of daylight, you may find yourself driving in the dark more often. Be sure all your exterior lights are working and clean. You want to make sure you can see and that other drivers can see you too.
- Check your spare tire. As the temperatures begin to drop, so does your tire pressure. While checking the pressure in your four regular tires may already be a habit for you, don’t forget your spare. You don’t want to wind up with a flat tire and a flat spare, too. The fall is a great time of year to make sure your spare tire is properly inflated.
These are just a few simple steps that most people can do on their own. If you want assistance doing any of this fall maintenance on your car, don’t hesitate to schedule an appointment with the friendly service department here at Lancaster Mazda.
