When you are confident with what you do at work, it is a great feeling. But, when you can win a competition based on how you do your job, that’s even better. For the first time since 2008, Mazda is hosting a national Master Technician Competition.
In this competition, Mazda Master Technicians and Mazda Elite Master Technicians, all with an equal chance to win, will compete to be the North American championship and go on to represent the United States in the Mazda global competition.
The competitors are Jason Kenney from North Carolina, Daniel Gleason from Illinois, Eric Boughton from Colorado, Jason Lorsong from Maryland, and Michael Shurosky from Washington. These finalists all won their regional competitions in October 2015.
In the competition, held at Mazda U.S. headquarters in Irvine, California, technicians are all presented with the same challenge in identically equipped Mazda vehicles. The technician who solves the problem in the quickest and most thorough manner wins. The winner will move on to the global competition held in Hiroshima, Japan in early 2017.
“Our goal is to delight our customers. One way we are doing so is by providing top quality technicians at Mazda dealerships,” said Satoshi Takahashi, director of technical services, in a statement. “Part of our training is to promote excellence and the Mazda Master Technician Competition helps recognize top performers and establishing best practices.”
