Mazda reported December U.S. sales totaling 29,294 vehicles, marking an 18% improvement over the same period last year and the best December in 20 years, since 1994. It also brought the company’s combined fleet and retail sales for the year to 319,184, bringing annual Mazda sales to their best result since 1994 as well.
In addition, just to stick with 1994, Mazda’s retail-only sales were also at their highest since that year, showing the automaker’s increased appeal to regular customers, like those who visit Lancaster Mazda every day.
This performance was highlighted by a few standout vehicles, namely the all-new CX-5, all-new CX-3, and all-new MX-5 Miata. The CX-5 was up nearly 48% for December and more than 12% for the year while the CX-3 achieved its best month of sales since it launched in August. Needless to say, crossovers continue to thrive and few manufacturers offer better ones than Mazda.
Not everything needs to be SUV-sized, though. The all-new 2016 MX-5 Miata enjoyed its best December since 2007 and finished the year with an overall 81% increase in sales for the year.
