Getting into motorsports is expensive, and even if you manage it, you’re always at risk of being outspent by someone who you might have beaten with skill alone.
Unless you join a spec series, that is—among which none are more affordable than the Global MX-5 Cup. For the 2016 season, this racing series will be hosted across the world in North America, Europe, and Asia. You only need the 2016 Mazda MX-5 Cup to participate, the price of which Mazda has just announced as a very reasonable $53,000! It’s similar to the regular MX-5 you can find at Lancaster Mazda, except it features a stripped out interior, a roll cage, and numerous performance-enhancing modifications.
Should you happy to be crowned as the Global MX-5 Cup season champion, you will receive a $200,000 scholarship toward heading up the motorsports ladder. Mazda will also bring together the top racers in the world for a finale event in Laguna Seca, the winner of which will get to test Mazda’s IMSA prototype.
