It was announced late last month that the Mazda MX-5 donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital raised $50,000 for the hospital during the St. Jude Hope in the Hamptons event in early July.
The donation was organized by Mazda Drive for Good campaign, a charitable subset of Mazda North American Operations. Since its launch in 2013, Drive for Good has donated $7.6 million and 120,000 volunteer service hours to charity organizations.
St. Jude is the leader in studying and treating children’s diseases worldwide, and also provides care to children and their families for free.
Mazda regularly sets aside special Launch Edition MX-5s for special purposes such as this, in order to raise money for good causes. The Mazda MX-5 donated for Hope in the Hamptons has a unique color combination of Soul Red and a Sport Tan interior along with other exclusive design features and technology. The Launch Edition comes with either a six-speed automatic transmission or a six-speed automatic and a Bose Mini SoundLink system.
